Target Audience Feedback - Half Way Through
We received feedback from a mixture of boys and girls half way through our production. This part we had only filmed part of the performance with no concept and this is what people said they liked and disliked.
For the first improvement, a boy said how he wanted to see more people within the video because shots of the artist can get a bit repetitive. This can be resolved when we complete all our filming and add in conceptual ideas.
Another person said how the time lapping could have created some confusion as some shots were from the beggining and some from the front. From this Ellie and I have decided we are going to have the first 20 seconds will create a attitude of the artist, as all the shots will be from behind, creating questions of who this artist may be and then the next 16 seconds will be the artist being established from the front.
The lighting that first girl talks about is when the artist has the stars and rain projected on her. We chose to add a few seconds of this projection because all the other projections were happy and bright colours. This meant that by adding a darker projection, the backgrounds would stop being repetitive.
When we received feedback that the artist smiled too much, we decided that will change our opening scene based on Miley Cyrus' music video of Wrecking Ball. The beginning of her video its just a close up of her face that really shows the emotion. This concentrates less on the artist dancing and more on the emotion and ability to lip sync to the viewer.
The bits that contain the black shots are the parts that haven't yet been filmed. This was the video that the people above had previously watched in order to give their feedback.

Day 2 of filming
Ellie and I decided to start Day 2 of filming on a fly over as decided that it would look rustic and original if we had the traffic in the background and could perceive it to the artist looking over the rail to see life just passing her by. The style we decided to be a baggy Topman top tucked into high waist-ed Levi shorts combined with cut out boots. As we had filmed the projections on the first day and my hair was down, we decided that putting my hair into a messy pony tail would create the differences into the different types of style our artist can have. We decided to put a chain either side of the pony tail to add detail to the style as wel as a studded hairband. This was all to build upon the alternative style we were aiming to create for our artist.
Setting
This was the fly over we decided we wanted rto uinclude. However, when we arrived at this location we found that filming was increasingly diifficult as there was not an angle which complimented the artist as well as justifying the setting to suit the song genre and media production.
Before we arrived at the abandoned petrol station this is what we assumed it would look like. By the time we got there, it was overgrown and more bordered up. However, this worked more to our advantage as the building had been gratified on and this setting had been adjusted to our advantage as that worked better with the alternative theme of the song genre and media production.
This was the setting of our projections. We used the school sports hall as it had no windows and meant that in order to make the shadow more visible we needed a pitch black setting. We used a spot light to help the colour of artist not change too dramatically when we projected block colour's onto the artist. As we used a projector screen to make sure the background was clear and had no brickwork in the background. This helped to increase the effcetiveness of the shots.

Practice Filming
Here is some of the filming we did in the half term, Some bits worked really well and so we will be using them in our final video but some of them (as featured in this video) didn't work so well. We learnt alot and progressed through the day, but we also heavily planned what we would be doing but making sure we were prepared with many different projections to use. With the rest of our filming we know to use more angles, as in our practice filming and also in our projection setting we used alot of simple mid shot, this is due to the fact we wanted alot of emphasis on the actual projections and the fact that it looks artistic.
What we learnt from the filming is that certain projections don't work, such as busy shots (the sea) or dark shots (the lanterns). We still want the artist to be seen, and have performance shown and so because of this we could only use certain projections, the ones that worked best are the pink clouds and the light coloured sparkles. We found these most effective as they look good but you can also focus on the artist, we didn't want to distract from the fact that this is a music video.
We also learnt what looks good and what doesn't when it comes to the shadow shot. At first we wanted the shadow almost talking to the artist, after filming this a couple of times we figured it didn't look right, and so we made the artist walk into the shot as the shadow walks out. Below is what looks good compared to what looks bad. By making a clear comparison between what looks good and what looks bad we were able to learn what to put into our final video and what to not. With the filming we will be editing it very specifically to also make sure it looks good

Costume
Costume
Our first day of filming we did the projection part of our music video. In this part of the video we wanted to get across the singer looking much more dressed up than in the other parts of the video but keeping with the vibe we wanted her to have.
In order to do this we put our actress Paige in a Bright Blue midi skirt, which is out of shot, and a long sleeved cropped top which is white with bright letters over it. We teamed this with a luminous yellow statement necklace and straight but slightly messy hair. We made this decision as the artist will be typically 'in a club' in this part of the video, as in the other parts she will be 'outside' and have a much messier but alternative look. This is her dressed up as if she is going out.

Here are some photographs of us filming Paige on the day, this shows the projections on her.
Here is a photograph of Paige getting her shadow, from this point I then filmed at a certain angle so that you could only see the shadow and not see Paige which is the effect that we wanted to make..jpeg)

This is our setting from a long shot, during filming we only used the screen to project images on, we used the sports hall as we were able to have it pitch black which meant that the projections stood out alot more when we filmed. Originally we were going to use the brick work to project the images onto but once we were set up the images looked so detailed and clear on the screen that we carried on our filming with the screen. This worked much better for us. .jpeg)

We decided that while we had the opportunity we would take some photos of Paige posing as the artist, this worked very well as I own a Pentax SLR camera, we used all sorts of filters which looked very effective with the shadow and Paige in the same shot.
